A little about me…

My name is Kylie Smith and I have been a full-time Family Day Care Educator since 2005. I made this career change as I believe Family Daycare is an exceptional way to be a working, loving, supportive mum and to make a difference in children’s lives. I strive to provide a quality childcare service with lots of fun, learning, love and cuddles.

I believe children need to feel secure, safe and loved in their environment and I hope my home will provide them with that security. As an educator and a parent I strive to support both parents and children alike in their individual needs, development and creativeness.

I have embraced the Early Years Learning Framework and plan opportunities and experiences from the ideas, interests and abilities of the children and families in my scheme. I actively practice belonging, being and becoming in my play sessions and have opportunities for intentional and spontaneous play experiences.

My program and play areas is designed to offer a range of activities and experiences that cater to an individual or group of children, different ages and the range of interests and abilities. Everyday the experiences and opportunities available to the children will allow each child to discover, investigate, explore, use a variety of materials in a variety of ways, challenge themselves, take risks, use creative problem solving skills and decision-make skills.

I believe each child is an individual with different needs, learning abilities and personalities, and I strive to encourage each child to grow and develop at their own level, developing their independence and self esteem through play. I support each child to develop their own sense of identity through being an involved learner and effective communicator. Each child has a unique perception and when they have free access to materials, time and space to explore and encouragement a strong sense of wellbeing grows.
